very poor fuel milage

98.5 24v 78k a/t 3.55 bone stock average milage was 18.5 before recall 8001
now avg. mpg empty and easy is 11 and drops to 7 when in the moutains or light towing. less than 10k lbs. after seveal trips to 3 dealers with no help the texas dodge pr rep said that milage was low but within normal range.
local cummins shop said they could find nothing wrong, no codes, had the problem many times berfore but could not change the flash.
paid for re-flash with no change.
any thing new or way to restore original flash?

wastegate sticking open (low boost) sticking closed (over boost), IAT sensor, MAP sensor and VP44 all could cause bad MPG

i would start by pulling the IAT and cleaning it

IAT and MAP are located on the driver side of the head

and most important is a fuel pressure gage i would get one if you don't have one yet

what does that recall adress
recall 8001 is for nox emishions, dosent have flash code on tag only p/n 33303703j

Well, I agree 100% :thumbsup
The problem my be from the Dodge recall 8001. If it was for nox emissions junk is it possible they changed/retarded the engines timing? I wonder if there is a way to find out just what this recall did and or changed?

Boost pressure is highly unlikely... Being my average cruising pressure is <5 PSI...

i would start by pulling the IAT and cleaning it

A really got place to start...

Fuel presure is VERY IMPORTANT! You need to have a gauge in the cab so you can monitor both idle and WOT pressures at all times.

Add my 2 cents...:thumbsup

As far as I understand the dealer can't and will not allow previous version software to be load on the ECM/PCM. You must go forward to the next version if possible...
