I just purchased a used 2012 3500. I've never had satellite radio before, so I hit the button and it works. I was surprised. I figured being a 2012 year that it would not still be activated...... ?

1: How long is the trial period? I assume there is a trial period.

2: I assume the previous owner has paid for 'X' amount of service up front. Does the service stay with the truck as in a serial number or something?

3: I guess if the previous owner paid for a life time service or some long time period, it will be activated until he cancels it off his credit card?

I think I read somewhere that it is on a two week free trial period right now. I bought a used 2012 a week and half ago, and mine is working too. Not sure of the fact or fiction in all of this though. Also, I pondered on the thought that perhaps the previous owner already paid a full year on it, and it just stays activated with the vehicle?

Sirius radio sometimes have a free week-end or time period, kind of a promo thing. Each radio has an identifying number that Sirius recognizes. When the subscription runs out, so does the service. The Lifetime memberships have been discontinued, but that could have changed. My last renewal for Sirius radio was $98.00, IIRC. Not the best deal, but better than full price.

I bought my 12 about a year ago, it came with Sirius 3 months free (I got my truck from a dealership), I thought the same about the previous owner having it and never turned it off until I got a renewal letter in the mail, I never did much care for it.

I've never wanted to pay for it with any of my other trucks I've had, but I do pull our toy hauler for our atv trips about 5 times a year and there are many many miles where there is no reception except for spanish for some reason...? Not sure I want to pay for it the whole year though.

Its a free trial right now. if you want it work out a deal with them. Tell them the normal fee is way to expensinve they will offer you a 6 month deal for like $25. Do not give them a credit card number or when your 6 month is over they will charge your card the full price. I got charged like $300 or something outrageous after my subscription ended. refused to ever deal with them again because they just charged my card without me knowing. after call after call from them they gave me a year free. Since then my year has ended and they agreed to bill me my 6 month $25 subscription so i can pay by check.

You can call them and pay $10-15/month depending on the package you want. I'm doing that right now, I let me subscription expire and am paying monthly for a couple months. The rep I talked to about my renewal wasn't able to give me a deal and suggested doing this, now I can get a new subscription at a better introductory rate.

You can also call them and ask for a 3 month trial subscription to see if you like it. I bought a 2011 and got 3 months free to check it out. They kept asking me for a credit card so I would be ready to go and I refused. The third time they asked I just said, I'm not giving you a credit card so if you don't want to give me the 3 months, fine, but NO credit card.

I've since received three offers to sign up and extend with the latest was 5 months for $20 and then $14.00 per month renewed every 3 months??? NO contract or cancellation fee.

I keep hearing about $98 per year or so as a pretty regular deal so I'd ask for the trial, then tell them forget the 5 months for $20 routine because you still end up paying $98 for the last 7 months. Just tell them you'll take an annual $98 per year deal, auto renewal without increase and see what they say. I hear from different folks different deals. Guess it's all on the rep.

Sooooo, I bought my truck in March 2012. I was told that it had a one year subscription with it. Well mine is still working as well and we're almost three years now. I haven't received any calls or emails on it so I'm just gonna keep quiet I guess, lol.

I got my truck in Oct and the dealer never told me I had the sirus working. After about a month I was messing with the radio and hit the sirus button... shocked that it was working. Thinking cool! Got free sirus. But about 3 weeks later I got a call from sirus and they wanted to know how I liked my 3 month trial... crap! Told them I just turned it on not knowing it was working... anyway they gave me until end of february for trial. They told me the package deals and I went with music only for just over a hundred a year including taxes ... fees of one sort or another, starting March.
