I always see threads about it but don't understand how it works. What should happen if the power wire to it is disconnected or loose? My wire never stayed on and hell I don't even know if that wire is hot I never tested it. How does it work? Thanks!

The solenoid needs 12 V for it to open. If you take it out there is a spring and a cone shaped plunger, the plunger goes into the fuel cavity and shuts the fuel supply off. When 12v is applied to the solenoid the plunger pulls into the head of the solenoid and allows to fuel to flow. When you turn your key to run you should have 12v to the solenoid.

That is the KSB which is for cold starting it advances the timing. Read my thread and I tell him where to find the fuel shut off solenoid.
