Hey Yall...

After a failed attempt at posting this, posted it in 03/04 GD.

I'm not new to the site, I just forgot my username and p-word including the email used to register...time for a new username!

This year so far I have been a bit bust, returned from deployment, got a divorce, had a miscarriage and got out of the army....yay. fml.

Forgive me for not filling my obligations to the forum! lol

I work out in the oil fields in midland, I am on call 24-7. I have no life!!! But a good pay check.

On to business!!

Its a 2006 mega cab 5.9 with 189k, all driven by yours truly lol. I want to be running twins also.

I am wanting to get my truck done up nice.

I have a kelderman 6-10 inch kit on the way...can't wait!

But I am wanting to be at about 800 to 1k on power numbers. I do have the tools and knowledge to do it myself, but absolutely no time to do it without taking long breaks...so it will never get done.

Anyone have any experience with underground diesel out of NV?? I shot them a e-mail, but apparently they aren't taking me seriously when I ask them how long its gonna take them to do it.

I already know scheid is good, but anyone have any problems with them?

I have buddies that live out in effingham IL which isn't far from them if Im not mistaken, possibly same town.

I'm shooting for a heck of a hauler, and a fun toy. I do haul alot of big time trailers, anything from huge horse trailers to wireline equipment.

Now I know that high power/large lift/big tires is not a great combination...but thats why its a kelderman. Down for race car, up for just driving.

I was asked in the previous thread what do I plan on running. Im going for efi, probably dual CP3, a 66/S483, 180 sticks, a fletcher cam, AD 165/200, no head studs and a stock tranny.

Thats just the basic stuff, irrelevant to the question though.

Basically anyone have any experience with these companies, any pro's/cons?

Thanks yall!

May want to reconsider a couple things before getting a response. Those may be the reason people won't take you seriously and this could be another failed attempt for you

ah, I had a feeling yall wouldn't see it as a joke.

Im only kiddin...

My crap 48re already completely dropped (in the pan dropped) the second gear band, on a stock 6bt.

I know it would be a total bust, as soon as the truck cranked over the tranny would probably implode lol

Best thing to do when talking about a serious build is to make a call. Text can be taken many ways. There are a lot of "dreamers" out there that waste people's time when they can be assisting customers that are serious and actually have/want to spend their money, especially in this industry. After awhile it gets old, however if someone knows your not just a tire kicker they are more likely to answer any questions you have and work with you. Personally, I answer any questions anyone might have to the best of my knowledge but not every person/business is like that. I'm not saying they are doing that, just saying it could be a possibility

I know exactly what your talking about. My family owns a shop and I know about all that stuff. Perfectly understandable.

But I'm just asking if anyone has any experience with these companies. I'd preferably go with Schied but I'd like to know what else there might be.

why not triples since you think you need to tow things with a 1k truck, 66/s483 would be rough to tow with having large tires. youll need a smaller secondary to get things spooling or perhaps go ball bearing gt40XXr over a gt4718 or GT55. you could do Mid 800s easily with a 62/s480 combo and still tow whatever you want.......

And as far as your shop choice I suppose you should chose whoever believes you are actually going to follow through with the build

Im not extremely knowledgeable on turbos. I have been out of the game for a while.

the kelderman is on the way, well ordered. But I am iffy on the lift, if I decide not to I have a buddy that wants it. Otherwise Ebay or classifieds.

I am and always have leaned more towards power then lift. These trucks are too much truck for off road, been there done that. its not really all that fun.

Does everyone need to justify their needs and wants?

Im not asking the forum to do anything but what their opinions are of these shops.

Triton and I do not agree on much but this is one of those times.

Even some of the best shops in the nation will admit it is hard to beat Scheid's. This would be a no brainer for me. Dan Scheid is the godfather of diesel performance LOL.

scheids in effingham is a great place. im a regular in there. they are willing to help you out with anything. but doing a build of that sort wouldnt take them long but it going to cost alot to have anyone do it for you. i personally would not do 1k and still try and tow. i personally have a over 700 hp 06 mega cab with a lift and 35's and i wish it was not lifted near as much and on 33's. it also runs extremely hot so until this efi live switchable tuning is out i cant tow a thing. ur going to have to have dual cp3's and a good twin setup since ur towing so much. adding that kind of lift will really add some unreliability to that powerful of a truck

Wouldnt a set of 250hp injectors be a better fit for a 1000hp rig? I would think one would need to stretch the pulse out with 180s to get there?
I figured something like that would be needed, I just need to hammer out the details. I get 4 days (consecutive) off a month, other then that I have only leave days. So it might need to be left there a month or be done in 14 days haha. The job is the hardest easy job out there, on call 24/7 so im home, but then I get called and I work for 3 days straight often.

My buddy I was stationed with on ft. bliss is from effingham, he is always telling me thats what real America looks like. I always say there's no America like Texas just to piss him off a bit.

I do have a 02 that I could still tow with, I heard about that new efi tuning and it sounds pretty sweet. Like I said the lift is all optional, my desire lies mostly with turning the megabrick into a racebrick.

This whole build might take place sometime around summertime, i just need to get the rest hammered out. I obviously get in contact with scheid about the whole thing, its gonna happen haha.

I just have more research to be done, obviously.

But thanks yall!!! Guess I can go on a road trip and give scheid some money.

Or I can just put a 6bt in this bad boy, it already has a BB 454 in it...but a twin 6bt would be fun!!
