:rant:Ok, So I read the thread about the TSB to fix the tranny shift hunt from 1st-2nd. Hey thats exactly what my truck does! So I scheduled an appointment and dropped it off. I just got a call from the service advisor telling me the problem isnt the shift solenoid, its because I have bigger tires and I didnt get the speedo recalibrated, and my transmission fluid is dirty. They are refusing to do the TSB, because the fluid is 20k miles old. Which is well within dodges standards. I am having them recal the speedo because it needs it and they're going to do it under the $100 diagnosis fee. Why wont they just do the TSB. Dodge has recognized and admitted it is a problem, and said here is the fix. Why do they have to be so stinkin difficult? Is there anyway I can "make" them do the TSB? Or just get screwed, and have to pay another $100 when it does it again in a month.:rant:

I tell you sometimes the dealers are crazy...I dont understand why they wouldnt want to do the TSB...that is what you wanted them to do and they recognize the problem so why not just do it

I called the service manager and told him that what they are doing is crap, I dont want to be upsold on a tranny service, I took it in there to get the TSB done, and thats what I wanted done. He said they would do the TSB. So we'll see, I'm sure they are going to call back and try to give me more grief.
And I found out my local Jeep dealer also is authorized to do warranty work for dodge.

Funny you should say this. I called, explained my situation-the gear hunting-gave the TSB number, etc. and scheduled an appointment. Took it in and got attitude about the TSB from the service guy. The transmission dude came out and asked a few questions and said that it should be done.
Had it done, and I swear it still hunting gears. Not as often-it sure feels like it:coocoo

So, it looks as if they only replaced the valve? Do you all think the RL... is the solenoid?

stealerships are gay! i'd see if you can get it fixed somewhere else if your not under warranty for a tsb fix.

jhardie, the RL is the entire valve body, not sure why that was done. chances are you got one of the old selonoids on the valve body, it comes complete. They didn't even perform the TSB. Why do people assume ALL dealerships are bad? I work at a Dodge dealership, I do all the diesel and trans work and I do my damndest to keep people happy!!!!!!! Course we're a small town too, maybe that's the BIG problem. BIG town dealerships could care less, they're getting their money.

I'll only go to small town dealerships if ever. Big towns could care less about the customer!!! I'd say take it to diesel performance shop and tell them about the problem and see what they say. Besides, 265/70 vs. 35's is only around a 2 inch difference. Has nothing to do with gear huntin'. Mine hunts too on occasion, but I'm not going to let the stealership touch mine!

My grandpa takes his truck to Carson City only, they have never given him a bit of grief. So you're right, now all dealers are bad, but a huge majority of them are crap. Oh they are still refusing to do the TSB. Said they needed to change the fluid and flush the system to be sure that wasnt the problem.

get P/N 4717210 and install it yourself (13mm socket for pan, 11mm and 25 torx to access the solenoid. And about 7 qts ATF+4. Hope this helps.

Hey Ramtech,
Glad you're in here because i've got a question for you.

I'm at 47k miles on my 06 and I called my "favorite" dealer to talk about the antifreeze flush and fill service. The service guy told me that the antifreeze is 5 year/100,000 mile service and that I didn't need to do it. O.k. Called my 2nd favorite and they told me 50k miles and about $120. Called the original dealer and they told me 50k and $150 bucks. It does get old having to call 3 dealerships to find a constant answer and price but on this one, i struck mud. Any advice on this one?

One more thing, I read that the trani TSB for shifting issues is only covered if you're under warranty, right? They won't cover mine since i'm at 47k and declined their overpriced warranty sale during purchase, correct?

My truck has been down for 3 weeks at the dealership for a bad frontpump in the tranny .I'm being told ( for 3 weeks now) that there is not 1 pump in the entire country available . To make it worse chrylser will not make any till sept. My truck has been to dealer twice for same front gasket leak. the truck is not 2 years old and can't find parts . I'm going back to a ford

The same thing happened to me. I called to make an appointment to do the tsb. I took it there, they called a day later and siad it was done. They said that everything is ok. They flashed my computer and reprogrammed it. I thought hey if it works its fine with me. I pulled out of the dealership and it was still doing it. I called them when i got home, talked to a service manager, i gave him the tsb #21-009-07, told him what it ws doing and he said it sounds like i was describing what the tsb said. He told me they would do. I dropped it off, waited for it cause it only takes and hour MAX. Its funny cause i talked to the mechanic that did it and he said he GARUNTEES nothing is wrong with my trans. He said that is the way the shift. He said that is the way those trannys shift. Kinda funny cause that fixed the problem i had. The mechanic was dead wrong. I would call and tell them. Just tell them you have like 3 friends that had the same problem and they had this done and it fixed it.

Its BS, they will give you any excuse in the book. Dont get me wrong, i know that dealerships are business's, and they cant just give stuff away. The way i look at it is that if i just spend 30k on a dodge truck, you better be going to every extreme to make sure i am happy. I own 4 semi trucks and i have actually not bought a truck because of the engine. Customer service has made my decision quite a few times before in purchasing a vehicle. If the truck wasnt in warrenty i would be doing it myself, but they could at least try to impress me.

My son-in-law has a 2008 RAM with the 6.7L. I think he has about 25K miles. recently, it died and would not restart. The dealer is refusing to repair it. First they're saying the sulphur content is too high, but they're only quoting 25ppm. And I know he buys ulsd, mostly from Kroger's.

Then, they told him the particulate filter was clogged, and he has to pay for that. THEN they said he idles it too much. And on and on.

The net is, they want over $8K to repair. Is there anything anyone knows he can do? This is nuts......

Fix whatevers wrong with tthe fuel system (possibly just a filter) and get a DPF & EGR Delete kit....

Problem solved.
