Hello - just purchased a 2013 2500 Laramie Longhorn with 5k miles - first ever diesel, I am absolutely loving this truck! This site has proven to be invaluable.

Made a trip Sunday which I mapped with both the Ram nav and also my Nuvi. The Ram had the trip at 97 miles, while the Nuvi had it at 77. Needless to say, I used the Garmin. Anybody else run into this? 20 miles is a heck of a difference!

Also, didnt the earlier versions actually look exactly like a Garmin? Not liking the Ram screen as opposed to the stand alone unit. Thanks!

so which one was right? how far did u actually travel?
77 miles according to tripometer...the built in was taking me a different route for some reason.
Usually there are settings that you can change, such as "quickest time" , "shortest distance" , or "no tolls" - you get the idea. Go into the Nav menu, and see how it is set.

Totally didnt consider that - thanks...previous owner may have changed settings.
I've been playing around with comparing and contrasting NAV's versus the free Google Maps Navigation. It amazes me that in my wife's car Nav is still an $2,000 upgrade but the screen looks like something from 10 years ago and the Nav versus Google sucks. I bought the option in my '14, I hope when I get it, the navigation and traffic are close to as good as something I can get for free.
I had an older Garmin I used when I fly my little plane. It insisted that I fly over a road as if I was in a car,. The screen kept changing, jumping from one road to the next, left and right. I finally figured out a setting to avoid the roads and just show where I was at. Later I changed to a Garmin mapping GPS, the 76s, which leaves a bread crumb trail of my actual flight, as well as showing speed, altitude, barometric pressure, and miles traveled. It's obsolete now, black & white, but still fun to fly with. Looking forward to the big nav screen on the new Laramie. Ordered in last week of Oct, it's on a train now I hope, showed "Shipment" status Friday.
