Has anyone tried coring a 3" hole through the cat to make a home made resonator? I've seen several resonators and it seems like they all have something in common. Part free flow, part slowed down air flow. Seems like it would work right? Anyone tried it yet?

I wouldn't do it, the cats are worth too much money. There are some cheap resonators out there that seem to do the trick.

I have a hard time believing nobody on here has ever gutted a cat before. LOL

I've gutted plenty of cats... but I wouldn't just drill a hole through the catalyst... good chance it'll crack and break up later and wedge itself in the exhaust pipe.

you could easily make a resonator out of a cat shell, but I wouldn't do it the way you're suggesting
