I need some help everyone; today on my way to work my truck has been gutless. It was barley noticeable in 1st through 3rd but when I hit 6th trying to accelerate it felt like the turbo was non-existent, however I heard it spool and act just like it was giving boost. I notice when i punch it is blowing black smoke mixed with a little white, but it instantly turns white about a foot out of the exhaust. Then while I was driving my check engine light came on. I went to the parts house and there code reader was rented out. I am really worried :S: , any ideas? Also the temp here has been in the -10deg range, so I’m wondering if it just doesn’t like the cold... Thanks in advance!

You can cycle the key thre times on off and keep it on the third time to get the codes. They'll come up in the odometer read out. Sounds like you might have blown a tip on a injector.

I have tried to cycle the key in the past but it has never worked for me. Maybe I’m doing it wrong, or maybe my pickup does not show the code.
I checked my oil and it does not have any diesel smell; smells like it always doses at an oil change. The oil level does not seam to have changed, but I will keep an eye on it. I will try to get a code reader on it tomorrow and post the results, unless someone can tell me what I’m doing wrong on cycling the key.
Thank you for the help!

HAHA, ok well I’m not sweating bullets any more. Last night the temp was suposta get down to -20 so I went out to add some more Howes and as I went to open my fuel cap It was not clicked tight, it was just sitting there. So apparently it does not run good if your fuel cap is off. I got a code reader today and the code was P0148 Fuel Delivery Error. The truck runs great now! Thanks for your help everyone!
