I have had a smarty on my 2006 ram on level 4... my turbo is shot at 52,240 miles.. I took it to the dealer cause it is under the cummins warranty.. just wondering if the smarty will get traced by the dealer were it will void the warranty? has anyone ever had this problem before

it shouldn't, should leave no footprint as long as you put it back to stock

what air filter?
best question for ya right there^^^

if you have an intake or have gutted the torque tube, they are gonna void your warranty. especially for a turbo.

mine just went at 50k and they replaced it under the warranty no questions asked... I got a new turbo, elbow off the back of the turbo and a new intercooler (cause there was oil in it) all under the warranty and mines an 05

you can see my mods in my sig and the only thing they made me do is install the factory air box and I had to pay for 1/2 hr labor for the intercooler installation, 1/2 hr labor for the installation of the factory air box and the cost of a new air filter as mine was shot

also to my knowledge, smarty leaves no footprint on your computer so you should be fine

Mine has gone out at 97500. They claim it has dirt in it with factory air system. What can I do but keep a clean filter in it? It`s pretty frustrating. If I had put on an after market air intake dodge would void my warranty, now they say the factory one doesn`t filter well enough so they might not warranty it.

what are some signs of a turbo going out? I know they will make a odd noise. I seem to be loosing oil and im not sure if there is a seal in my turbo some where going out and lettin oil by slowly. Could this be possible? I sure hope this is the case since I have no blow by and truck runs like a sob and no signs of loosing oil other than checking the dip stick every day like I do.

shaft end play. take your intake tube off and their will be a small nut on a shaft that the compressor wheel rides on. try moving the shaft up down, side to side. if it has excessive play than the bearing is bad, or is on its way out

agree, a little movement up and down is normal because once u reach oil pressure it will tighten up, but if the blades are coming close to the housing...that is a bad thing

I want to say that movement in and out is the sign that it needs a rebuild. But dont hold me to that.

Put a Amsoil air filter in it. Far better than sock and their re-usable.

had my turbo replaced at 43K because the wastegate was sticking open partially, causing the truck to de-fuel at hard acceleration or while pulling a trailer. Said they didn't replace just the wastegate so they whole turbo is a new unit along with the elbow going to the exhaust. All under warranty
