Hey I'm planning a turbo upgrade in the future and was looking at a bd diesel killer b but my question is what turbo is that based upon. I'm a heavy duty mechanic and can rebuild a turbo any day so I'd really rather save some money and just buy a used one from an equipment or truck wrecker. Does bd do anything special to them?

It's an s300. They put wastegated exhaust housing and different wheels on them

Blow off valve are for the shut down phase to limit turbo bark aren't they? Waste gates I know limit boost by bypassing the turbine at a preset amount of boost.

uh no. waste gate limits boost by bleeding drive pressure off. blow off valve dumps all pressure instantly.

But the same result happens. Boost stops building at a preset pressure.

again NO. blow off valve only opens when you let off the throttle, usually from a pressure differential between the top and bottom of the bov head.
