My 94's WH1C is worn out, lost boost, white smoke with the black, shaft wiggles back n forth. Thinking of replacing it with a HX-35 Modified Turbo and a 14cm wastegated housing. The Modified HX35 takes the stock turbo and installs a bigger pinwheel on the compressor side, then machines each housing to very close tolerances that match each individual pinwheel. For 650.00 New. The 94 is an Automatic and only good for around 350 HP with the current build so anything more is not needed, what do you fellers think?

ehhhh i dunno man. why try to find an hx35 with a larger housing? 14 or 16 cm too. i mean the one you have lined up would work, but for the same price id rather have a larger housing. or for around 1000 you can find a used phat shaft or something man

I was wanting a BD Diesel Super B Turbo kit $1,167.99 on Ebay but thats almost double the price, The savings would buy me the new Flame Red Paint job for the cab. Never Base and clear coats again on anything I own! peeled off like a old Chevy. I did look at all kinds of nice after market turbos, but they are way more than the old 1 ton needs at todays fuel prices. All the used Turbos I could find so far were already shot. Thanks

You sure your current turbo is shot?
It's normal to have side to side movement as long as the wheel doesn't hit the housing.
There should be no front to back movement though.
Maybe you just have a boost leak.

It makes a real loud grinding sound, the fins do hit the housing when throttled hard then let off quickly.

Are you sure it hits the housing though? Turbo bark makes a nasty noise even with a brand new turbo.

An s300 would be way better, but the modified hx would be fine I guess. But after you buy the ex housing you are in the same price range as the s300

With the cost of the modded HX35 and a 14cm housing your in the same price range as a S300. The 14cm WG'd housing isn't worth what everyone wants for it.

The S300's have been getting good resuls from the people that have used them.

A Super HX40 would also work. The HX40's do not like to be overboosted or barked. But with a map range of 45 PSI that gives you some room to play with.

The S300's start around $1200 or so. A Super HX40 runs around $875 with a 16cm housing.

Look at my sig.

I found Super Bs for $1125 with down pipe and clamps, insured, and delivered but I am still searching. I may have found something with a better low end for slightly more.

jdjanetka,

I sent you a PM since it is not one of the sponsors here. Perhaps one or more of the sponsors will match the price. I like to support the sponsors but I like to save money, too. I am not affiliated with nor have I ever purchased from the company.
