Looking at a s366 .91 ar nongated turbo i was wondering if anyone had any experience with this charger such as spool boost #'s ect.
i dont tow much with it mainly just highway drive sometimes tow about 2-4k to mud events and trails. trucks been a budget build and the turbo is fairly cheap. just want a little idea on it before i jump into it and im screwed because im needing a turbo pretty bad my hx35 is on its last leg getting quite loose.

Thanks

Compressor: 66 mm inducer / 91.4mm exducer,
Turbine: 80 mm inducer / 73 mm exducer

It will spool much slower than your HX35, won't light up till about 1900. Power will suffer below this point and smoke will be harder to control in the bottom and midrange. Shouldn't have a problem towing in Florida with that charger. They can be had new for $650 so don't get screwed.

It definitely has a T4 turbine flange so you'll need an adapter to your stock T3 manifold. Also 95% chance it has a 3rd gen compressor outlet so you'll have to fab up a pipe to the intercooler. You will need a 4'' downpipe to connect to the turbine outlet, which is probably a john deere marmon flange. Lastly, the stock oil drain won't work so you'll need to cut the flange off the old one and connect a 7/8'' oil line to the drain fitting in the block or get a flexible metal one online.
Your gunna hate it. Get 63/68/14. Then eventually move to twins.
I have the s366 on my truck, same sticks and near same specs. it sounds like your needing one sooner than I could report honest results so this my not help. I have a severely Leaking intercooler so until I can get a replacement all tuning is on hold. Currently it is laggy, minimal smoke unless you get into it, and my egt's are controllable but I hit 1200* at every light and cruise around 800*. I am running 2-3 psi at 60 but don't start building till 1200rpm from a stop. Depending on tune coming out of the hole is smokey but once it spools this mother moves!!

I expect much better EGT's, quicker boost and less smoke withh more tuned fuel after the intercooler repair but until then I can only guesstimate, it's a little doggy now but I have allot of fuel out of it to make up for the lack of air. If your still interested in this turbo after I can find an intercooler in my price range we could meet up and see if it would work for you.....
There, 50 posts...... I feel much better:party018:
.91 T4 is laggy, though you could probably drive around that. Depending on your power goals, the FMW 62/68/.83 is a decent budget turbo
Sub'd Looking at the same turbo
Pretty sure the BD towing twins uses that turbo as the primary

I want to get one to go with my super b single eventually
Thank you guys for the info. I have no overall power goal at this time.
Just kinda sorta keep throwing new stuff at the truck and hope it takes. haha
i sort of figured it would be quite a big laggier then my hx35 and im a welder so the ic piping and dp isnt an issue for me. But as said i can reach spool by 2k rpms then i will be fine and can work with that. i also have and old manifold i cut the t3 flange off of and welded a t4 onto to try and older cat turbo on a previous truck. I think im going to take the plunge and give this a shot atleast im not going to be out a great deal of money either way.

I appreciate it guys

What's your power goal?

Dont really have one

The only way to size turbos is through power goals.....turbobygarrett.com actually rates their turbos via power levels.

I had the 66 with the .91 from forced inductions, was extremely laggy, traded down to a 62/68 and been loving life ever since! I have less fuel than you though, a 160 pump and 5x12's...
well i guess for a power goal i would like to be somewhere around 550-600 street tow friendly. I also have a 99 24v 200hp sticks studded 5spd tst comp and home brewed fuel system. so im looking to build both trucks some what similar power level wise.
just not sure what charger is going to get me there. but from what i have been reading the turbo's ideal for my goal on the trucks will be different. so ill focus on the 12v for now. Its my weekend fun truck
