How did locksmith access?
what scanners are you using ?
Look in FSM for troubleshooting no communications
Try and make sure good power/grounds to TIPM
good power/grounds to cluster
2006 cluster known for issues check it for obvious ones ie solder issues
I'm not sure what the locksmith was using. He was kind of a douchebag. He said he wasn't comfortable talking to me because I had a knife on my belt. It's a 2.5 inch knife...
The fsm, even for losing communication with tipm, says read codes lol. I did a cluster test which does a gauge sweep and that seemed fine. Then I did one to the overhead unit and that said it passes the can test as well.
I was using my edge and a little unit from Amazon. I was able to read my gf's nitro so it was fine. I hit every connector I could find with contact cleaner and reseated it. I later found that I could access the can when the truck would start for a few seconds. The only code I could get was intermittent connection to pcm. It was p2509. Since I couldn't access the can other than when the truck was running, I couldn't clear that. I also showed 2.5v on the can pins for the obd.
I threw the truck on the battery charger overnight, had two shitty starts, then it ran. I don't get it. Why would it start but not let me read the can unless it was running? Typically it's the other way around if it's a battery issue.
I took it to dodge because they supposedly had a mechanic that was really popular among diesel guys in the area. He said bad tipm and fuel pump. That doesn't make sense to me because I have a fass which isn't even interacting with the can, and bypasses the fuel pump in the tank.
Could it just be a weird battery issue? Am I missing something or overlooking something?
