Hi there, heres my truck, everything was running fine until I changed the fuel injection timing to 2 from the default.

2010 dodge laramie 3500
4inch dual exhaust turbo back straight pipe
AFE stage 2 intake
H&S minimax
H&S egr delete

Everything was running fine but then I read to switch to injection timing 2 to get it to run more like stock which is what I want just with more mpg. Whats happening is once I start slowing down to stop from any speed when I get to about 10-20km/h the truck starts shaking like its a standard transmission and I am in 6th gear slowing down about to stop.. Its lugging, and sounds like its just beginning to stall, the only problem is the rpms are staying normal and not dropping. Its almost like the truck wont down shift into a lower gear or something. I tried manually shifting down early but even at high rpms its still has a bad shutter.

The lugging, shaking, shuttering seems like its in the middle of the truck so transmission? This is all happening after I changed injection timing to 2 from 3, but the truck is completely warmed up coolant is at 200.

I am out of town and my wife is driving it she notices it as well. Think its just as simple as changing injection timing back to 3? I thought I would hear an injection timing issue from the engine and not the whole truck shaking. I also have no idea what tune is on the truck I am guessing the default one. Any ideas? Thanks guys

I'd reload the tune and see what happens

I'd go back to default timing on 3. I believe all the talk of moving timing on 2 was a scare that got way outta control. Yes it is probably safer, but there are tons of trucks that have been running default timing for thousands of miles with no ill effects.

So I reloaded the default and its doing the same thing, perhaps worse or at least louder. It sure sounds like its the transmission, think I should take to mechanic or buy the $300 transmission tune software? It really shakes/sounds like its lugging and going to stall, at 20km/h to 10km/h and anything above/below that speed its fine. Only when I am slowing down....

I would try to pinpoint the problem first. The trans tune is awesome but something doesn't sound right. Retrace your steps of the install and see if you can find anything that you might have missed..:confused013:

Yes it sounds like there is a problem somewhere not sure what would have caused it though. Are you returning to stock first, it shouldn't be necessary but you could give that a try.

One other idea your sd card might have corrupt data on it download the latest update and give it another go.

Also with regards to the timing in my personal opinion if you are giving it "default timing" which is advanced over stock and not enough fuel ie no power level or wild level you are on borrowed time. It's just common sense run correct timming, and for yourself more aggressive timing will net you less mpg.

Yeah its my wifes truck that she takes the kids and drives around town. I use it when I am at home to haul trailers and travel trailers upto 10k lbs but not that often, so majority its town and highway driving empty. Timing 2 and no power/mild is ideal for this situation right?

Yes its a 2 part rear drive shaft, its a mega cab, so has the middle wheel base length between short and long box.

Or maybe English is his second language and he's just passionate about cummins and came to a forum where he thought he could get some help instead let's insult, great idea!
Haha I like how you call me an ignorant pr*ck and then edit your post and imply that insults are bad! Look at his other posts they are mostly normal and you can understand them. It's really about adding something constructive to the thread. Telling me he ran his truck in this tune and that tune has nothing to do with the topic.

on another note, I am 100% sure its the rear diff or drive shaft. Even when I start slowing down and put the transmission into neutral it starts shaking and vibrating, its also much easier to tell that its not coming from the middle of the truck but in the rear. Going to take it to a shop this week. I will update the thread when I find out what it is, if anyone cares.
