Trouble changing radio stations

1332 Views 17 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  Megahunt
Usually I just use my presets, so I don't know how long this has been going on, but I went to dial in a different radio station the other day and couldn't get another station. As I turned the right dial it just bounced around but I couldn't correctly tune a particular station.

Anyone have any issues like this?

Which Radio option code? It sounds like you were trying to tune a station That either had a stronger one bleeding over or was not on frequency. Does this happen on only one station or all of them?

Yeah, I have the same issue. It's hit and miss- sometimes it's fine and other times I can't touch it without it going crazy. Especially when cold. So I stick to my presets, sucks when traveling though.
Same exact thing happens in my truck I stick to seek and presets

Same here turn the knob right or left and the stations jump all over the place. It also seems we all have 08's.

I need to check the code, but it is an SLT with an AM/FM/CD. Not bleeding over, but I can't tune a station in. Turning the knob make things just jump around.

I stick to Seek and the presets, but it sux I can't tune in a station.

Not sure if anyone ever took one apart as it seems as some contacts may be varnished over.
I also have the same issue. mine jumps around when adjusting the volume too.. it has something to do with the knob. ive popped them off and taken a can of compressed air to see if there was dust inside that was making it not work correctly. no luck though..

my truck is an 08 as well. i wanted to change out the stereo but havent gotten around to it yet.
2008 Laramie with Infinity sound and mine does the same thing.

Radio stations jump all over, as well as the volume when I use the nobs on the radio itself. Steering wheel controls still work fine.
Same problem here too.

Don't mean to get off topic but I have trouble with my volume knob sometimes. It is very aggravating, I don't know how to fix it other than getting aftermarket radio

this is more of an issue than i thought
Yeah!...sure sounds like it. So long story short, I'm not the only one out there having this issue!!
Yea I have the same problem in my 08 that you guys are mentioning. It doesn't happen real often, but it's frustrating when it does. Sometimes while just driving it decides to change the radio station by itself, or knock it off the current tune, but that again is quite rare.
sucks tryin to set the clock too, mine does this all the time, another 08
Seems a reostat is used for turning and volume. Apparentlly as it gets older the rubbing block no connection with knob. I suspect a radio repair shop is best bet... have no ideal of expense. radio is useless if you lost presets, as I have..... Yes, can't even set clock.
same issue here.
Yup same here! If i have to manual tune I use the steering wheel controls. Setting the time sucks because you have to use the knob...
