I recently picked up a 94 3500 CTD, auto, 2x4, dually with about 120,000 miles. I was told the truck had been more or less sitting for the last three years but seemed to have no real issues when I test drove it.

Now the auto tranny is showing some bad signs and I'm wondering if anything can be done to fix/alleviate these problems until I get my car back on the road and have a chance to put more time into the Cummins.

Here are the issues:
1. Trans is reluctant to shift into first from a dead stop, mostly when cold.
2. Trans will occasionally slip while riding around town or at highway speeds, goes back into gear when I back off the throttle.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try some SeaFoam Sea Foam--Trans Tune
Also put it in nuetral when cold for a few minutes, while the motor warms up.
Then change the fluid and filter.
