Just wondering what everyone reccomends or what's np's spec. Wondering if ATF+4 is the best for the t case. Already put synchromesh in the trans and it's awesome.

A manual or electronic control NP transfer case is one of least sensitive products out there.
ATF+4 or about any trans fluid will work. Motor oil, hydraulic gear oil will also work.
But what gives a fluid the 'awesome recomendation'. It's cost ???

What the dodge owners manual reccomends isn't always what should be used. I was wondering if dodge cut cost by putting a cheaper fluid in the t case also

What exactlly does awesome mean.
Performance? Does it give us ten more HP. Or does the TC rattle out "Guns and Roses"?? Horse urine or Wally world Tech stuff might be awesome if you can get past the smell for this application. Just want a qualifier that really makes it awesome..

I said performance not horsepower gains. Performance straight for websters 4 a : the ability to perform : efficiency b : the manner in which a mechanism performs <engine performance>

So by performance I mean gear rollover is reduced and transmission shifts smoother. So ya

I changed my transfer case oil a few months ago when I changed the oil in the G56. I used Amsoil synthetic ATF in the transfer case and Amsoil MTG 75W-90 in the transmission. The transfer case is so rugged and simple, you could probably use any kind of oil in it.

I think the question about performance is a very wise question. To me the answer is different given the expectations of use and what gives satisfaction to the driver.

My expectation is longeventy based from cost. My satisfaction is going anywhere doing anything within reason and not having failure. My truck does not get babied - on the same note I don't beat it into ground.

ATF+4 is a good oil. Not sure I would run motor oil in a non filtered aplication - unless it is non deturgent or an emergency. Non synthetic heavy gear oil may burn up some of the needle bearings especially in cold weather or if you are working it hard in hot weather in 4WD.

There are needle bearings between input & output shafts on axis. Also there will be an oil vain pump made of plastic not to mention plasic wear items that have replaced the brass contacts on the end of shifter forks & such. So transmission type oils probably work best in this aplication.

Anyway just my point of view - no more important than anyone else's.......

I used Delvac 50 for a year in my TC. I found the electronic shift took much longer to respond, actually took a LOT of finessing to get it to shift between lo and hi range. I drained and replaced with ATF+4 and it shifts much better.

I'm running 7 quarts of Pennzoil Synchromesch in my trans, and 2 quarts of atf+4 in my case. I just installed a southbend dual disk, and the gear rollover in my trans is horrible. Just in neutral with the clutch out it is loud as can be, and in 4th gear at 1500rpm's it really loud too. I'm trying to find mobil delvac 50, but haven't been able to find it locally yet in southeastern Indiana/cincinnati, ohio. any help would be appreciated... I actually am missing my junk dmf right now lol

If you can find an Allied oil distributer they will have it in bulk. You will need to take your own bucket.
