Just getting an aftermarket tranny pan will help it, which I need to do. It will keep it cooler and put less stress on stuff. BD makes a line lock deal that will help big time. It does cost 300-350 dollars. But it will help in every way your wanting.
A good torque converter will help hook things up much better. Less slipage and all that. Not sure it would pay for itself in fuel saving though. It sure made a difference in my truck for driveability. the shift kit seemed to be a mistake.
