On a 95F day in stop and go traffic I would hit 200, but normally my temp is at 180-190 city, 170-180 on the highway on a 95F day. 210 is normal for me towing the 8x22 enclosed trailer fully loaded. Outside temp, elevation, trans mods, and foot pressure on the skinny pedal can cause temps to rise.

Edge monitor... Measures the temp from the factory sensor in the pan.
That's interesting. When I had an Edge JwA it did not have that feature. I wonder what year we are talking here..... ? Seems a little high to me.

that is higher than my 06 for everyday driving. I rarely get that high towing big loads. I am going by the edge attitude.

ithe truck is on 35's
Thats why your temp is a little higher than normal in street driving. Its taking extra ppower to spin the bigger tires and making heat in fluid coupling while doing it. The temp is in the operating range of ATF+4 so no big worries.

As long as it runs 180-190 on the hiway when locked up its normal.

FYI, the bigger tires are equivalent to adding 50-60 HP to the engine. Its hard on the direct clutches and TC becuase thats not what the trans was designed to operate on for tire size. Adding a shift kit and removing some of the OE restriction to the cooling system will help a lot on lifetime. To get the temps down you need a TC.

... motor runs about 190-195 also
That is normal operating temperature for a 5.9L Cummins engine.

Here in San Antonio with daytime temps between 95'F and 100'F I see 180'F to 200'F in my stock auto 48re tranny in city stop and go driving. (Temp probe is in the hot line going to the cooler). Sitting at a real long traffic light it might get to 215"F. Putting it in neutral while stopped helps keep the temp down too. On highway I see 140'F to 160'F.

out of curiousity

not to steal the thread, but if i may ask...i have a glow shift trans temp gauge and the acu temp trans line adapter from geno's...which says it will read 5-10 degrees cooler than actual temp...

it reads most of the time between 150-160 highway, but at times going up decent hills or stop and go it'll rise to 165-185...not sure if i have a shift kit in the truck or not, the guy i bought it off said he thinks it does from the way it shifts but he is the 2nd owner and never asked the original owner...who unfortunately pulled a 5wheel camper (you'd think he'd had one installed?)...

how concerned should i be about accuracy of the acu temp adapter versus a return line installed probe?
