I live in Michigan and it's been getting cool out.i have a '14 Ram 3500 crew cab dually and the Aisin Trans. I noticed that my trans is not really warming up. I'll let the truck run for 7-10 min before leaving for work. When I get in the coolant and engine out Temps are over 120-140°, but the trans is at 60° (that's the lowest it says). Then I'll drive 10 miles to work and the Trans temp is only up to about 120°.
I k ow that there's a valve that will by pass the cooler. I've always heard of them failing to the closed bypass position and over heating the trans. What are the possibilities mine failed to the open side?

The valve your referring to is a thermal bypass valve

I've only ever heard of the valve closing on them, not being stuck open. I always thought it was a gimmick product and only useful for the 68rfe to keep it cool

In the winter here it takes a while for my transmission to warm up. I have a 14, drove to town and back today 40 minute round trip and it barely got up to 140. Normally runs 167-168. If it’s not overheating I’d say it’s working properly and is just the weather.
