I am right in the middle of trying to install an autometer tranny temp sensor. The service port on the passenger side of tranny in the rear is not deep enough for the sensor to thread up. The second service port toward the front of the truck is deep enough however, is it ok to install it in that location....

no the one up front.. I pulled the middle plug and it was dry, the one ahead of that one was wet and the probe fit all the way in. I dont have the extender so just to be sure i went to home and depot to put together a fitting that should work.... what do you think the forward port is for.

I would go with what Awenthol said, thats were I put mine at in the tranny pan. Also, i got the shorter sender to put in the pan rather than the longer sender (if you have autometer gauges) you get a much more accurate reading...
