Second gear was gone so the tranny shop tightened up the band changed the fluid and filter. They did show me the front band where just a small portion of the outer edge was down to the metal. The shop had high hopes for the tranny. It is much better but I'd like to her from others that have had this done and if the tranny days are numbered or is it good to go ? I currently have a 2000lb camper on it and I pull a 6000lb enclosed trailer. I did have it chipped but everything is back to the normal power settings. I have around 160,000 miles on the truck...Thanks

Its days are numbered, not very high either. If ANY part of the band is down to metal its shedding particles into the fluid and chewing the drum up. Drum is probably already shot. You will run out of adjustment then its toast if it doesn't flat break before.

If parts are showing obvious signs of wear, it's never a good thing. I'd say it's due for a rebuild.

Band Adjustment

Second gear was gone due to the Servo no longer able to travel further to clamp the band. Adjustment after this is just a temporary solution. The direct clutches have taken a beating too with 2nd gone. Its time for a rebuild.
