Would it be safe to use a tractor trailer turbo on a 5.9 cummins i have access to quite a few i was looking to see if anyone has done this i need more air but cant afford a new turbo the tractor ones i get at the price of scrap!!

you wouldnt have enough exhaust gas coming out of the manifold to push the turbine on a tractor turbo to do any good.

it all depends what size.
find the specs and post up what kind it is and the serial number and some one should beable to get all the info you need on the beast of a turbo

possible you could run a twin set up using your existing turbo to push the big turbo

ah, yeah, you may be able to run it as a second turbo, but you would have to mount that thing in the bed of the truck. lol not sure there's enough room to mount it as a second one under the hood

Well if you don't mind spooling it up everytime you take off, A guy in my area put an ISM turbo on a powerstroke, so I'm sure its possible to put one on a cummins. If you have a turbo off an ISC 8.3L (HX40) it should work...
