I have been looking into getting a set of traction bars for my truck. I was looking at the set that CPP has. Is there any particular brand better than the other?

Where are you located?

There are a lot of different brand that you can choose from. It really comes down to your:

A. Budget. How much are you looking to spend? Quality and high price are usually synonymous here.

B. What's your application? Are you pulling? Racing? Offroading? This should determine your style of bars, how long they are, etc..

C. Preference. Do you like bar style? Ladder bars?

I know pro comp has some decent bars for a good price.

I have also heard good things about CPP bars.

Lazar Smith bars also look pretty beefy, but price quickly follows.

OUO (One Up Offroad) also has a great reputation on their bars. They're also a unique style.

I though, run BCW traction bars. A guy here in Texas makes them custom in his shop. I LOVE them and I immediately noticed the difference when I added them. The bars have a sweet unique style, and the emblem can be custom made to anything you want. Not just the BCW logo. Several guys around here run them, along with 2 guys who are up at SEMA with them as we speak. They also love them. I strongly encourage you give him a call. He's a great guy trying to grow his business.

They can also be painted. The purple ones are just the picture he uses.

Hope this helps

Thanks

Gather information before you buy bars. I've seen several budget sets lately that were very poor quality. Ask what size tubing/pipe (OD") and wall thickness. Also see what kinds of rod ends are used. Many are running cheap tractor link ends that wear out quickly on the road. The OUO bars are bad a$$ and high quality but are a little more money. You'll get what you pay for with bars.

I've been eyeballing a set of those tuffcountry bars lately ("ladder" style- not true ladder bars. i read a thread where another member was using them and they worked good enough for him. I'm not lookin to break te bank on a set it traction bars. Love my caltracs, but want a true bar setup this time on the 4wd

Nope, and it's cheap. I built my own set for $200. That includes expensive Ballistic joints.

Here is a set of Creative Fab Work bars super high quality stuff. The BCW bars look cool but need more attention to detail for instance he uses undersized bushings on both ends that will create bind when offroading.
Agreed, he does, but that's why I said application matters. In my case, I don't off road at all. Not to mention, my suspension is completely stock, so binding would never be an issue for me or anyone who stays on the road. There are definitely some good products out there. Just depends on what the individual is looking for.

If you have the time and skill, building a set of bars would be the way to go! It's always more fun to have custom built parts on your truck when you have your blood sweat and tears into them.

Thanks

been looking at single bars, like said by others, not lifted, dont offroad or pull. have a few things done but dont want to do more due to the axle wrap and shuttering when pulling out or letting off lol, dont need to be breaking stuff. i want a bolt in so if later not cutting and grinding it off if i decide to go bigger, just a thought
