in my 01 i have o/d off is that the same as tow/haul on the 3rd gens cuz it seems to do the same thing could somebody explain please

No, it's not the same. The 3rd gens also have OD off. Push the button once -- tow/haul, push it a second time-- OD off.

Tow/haul changes line pressures in the valve body to cause lock up in 3rd and 4th gears.

OD off is just that-- doesn't allow the tranny to go into overdrive.

That's only on the newer ones. Mine is just a tow mode switch. Mine doesn't have 2 positions. It seems to just be an O/D kill as far as I can tell.

You should feel it shift harder and shift higher.
