Please excuse this almost being a repeat post. I searched and posted a paraphrase of my question in another thread http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/911-urgent-situations/52318-tools-timing-injection-pump.html last week but did not get a reply.

What is the best way to seat the drive gear on the tapered shaft of the P7100?

I have read of people cleaning the taper and just torquing the nut but I have also read of the gear slipping on the shaft.

I read somewhere about using two washers, a radial roller bearing, and a nut to reinstall the gear. What bearing are people using?

Snap-on sells an M1324 for Cummins engines. Is it their tool for reinstalling the gear or is it for somewhere else on the engine?

:agree2: The shaft must be very clean, and dry.
