I recently installed an Edge Evolution CTS and an aFe intake on my '06 megacab. The intake is huge, much bigger than I expected but from my knowledge, more air for a diesel is better. Other than these two applications, the truck is bone stock. I was reading through the CTS user manual and read that the programmer and addition of a CAI could cause "excessively lean conditions which could cause pre-ignition leading to detonation. " Since I'm running the stock fuel pump, could I be harming my engine with the two parts combined? I've only ran the Edge on the economy tune since all I'm really going for is fuel mileage. I don't expect to ever add more than what I have other than an exhaust.

Diesels can run pretty much infinitely lean without an issue. unlike a typical gasser where fuel is introduced with the intake air charge through the valves, your truck is direct injection (some newer gas motors are this way). The timing in a direct injection diesel is controlled by when fuel is injected so there is little to no chance that you would ever see early detonation from the addition of a CAI. Nitrous is about the only thing that can lead to an overly lean condition and early detonation.

Get rid of the edge and go EFI live you'll see a world of difference and be 10x happier. Truck will run better as well

Most diesels have no throttle as we know it in a gasoline car. Mostly (but not all diesels always) they have open air intakes and take a full load of air in each cylinder and adjust power by amount of fuel only.
