I've just picked up a 12 valve and went ahead and pulled the front cover for the kdp I'm gonna go ahead and set the pump to 16.5* my question is EVERYTHING is bone stock other then exhaust and intake is it okay to do the timing without any other mods (egt gauge ect) I'm ordering a tranny soon then I'll dig into the fueling and boost

All other things being equal, advancing injection timing (within reason) will:

Slightly increase mileage
Slightly increase engine rattle sound
Slightly decrease exhaust noise
Slightly reduce EGT

One thing to keep in mind with the P7100 pump is that it doesn't have dynamic timing like the VE and VP44 pumps do (they automatically advance injection timing as rpm increases). So with the P7100 pump you're best off setting the timing advance based on your typical rpms.

For example, highway daily driver with 4.11 gears probably should have more advance than a work truck that generally sees higher load, lower rpm use. High rpm race guys of course are up in the 20+ deg. advance range.
