So apparently my ccv needs to be replaced and it decided to push the timing cover gasket and/or the crank gasket and cause them to leak. Does anyone have a write up on replacement with tools and torque specs?

Somewhere on here is a right up on timing cover...
You'll have to find I'm not good enough ...if i were you i would ditch the ccv filter , unless you want this to happen again

Have you replaced the ccv filter yet? If not I would replace/gut it and see if it still leaks.

If you do both and likely will have a oil mess under the hood, if you gut the filter run a hose somewhere down on the frame to puke on the road. As for oil leak wash the front of the motor off to see where the leak is first. It could be the crank seal/ front cover or behind the gear housing between it and the block.

You really think it's moving that much oil? Leak looks like it's coming right out of the crank seal area...

You can try doing both but keep your eye on it and if it starts making a mess just take the breather off and install a hose down the frame. Leaks between the block and the gear housing run down and look like a crank seal, best to wash it off then keep checking till you find the source of the leak for sure. The last think you want to do is fix what you think is leaking then find something else was the leak.

I've read that if you fix the ccv your oil seal might fix itself....

Just gutted the CCV...still a little seepage. So how big of a pain is replacing a timing cover gasket going to be?

I have read about finding the spot where it's leaking and rtving it from the outside with good results. Search around the forums or maybe someone will chime in.

I'm new to the forum and not at all mechanically inclined, so sorry if this is a stupid question but: I have a 2010 Ram 2500 w/ 6.7 liter Cummins and less than 60k miles. It's been a great truck, BUT... recently developed oil leak on passenger side near front of engine. Still under warranty, so dealer repaired what they said was a warped timing cover. Day and 1/2 job. Got home and started leaking again next day, same spot. Took it back and now they say it's REAR timing cover that's leaking and it's a 2-3 day job.

It's covered by warranty, but now I'm worried: is this a known/recurring problem? I really don't want to have to shell out $2k plus in repairs every 60k miles!

I have not, but I'm seeing folks recommend doing that long before the recommended 67,500 miles (I'm at about 58k). Do you think that could be what's going on here?

That's my guess. Filter got clogged and pushed the gasket.
