i would get them. i tow a 40 ft fifth wheel alot, and the timbrens work great. plus, your truck rides like stock with no load, but as soon as you put load on they take it up.

Those Timbrens are awesome. I used them when I had the 4100 lb Eagle Cap truck camper. I think they were only about $170 and installed in approx 5 mins per side.

They only engage when you put a load on the suspension.

I sold mine with truck camper as a "package" deal because the buyer had the exact same truck as mine.

My 36' 5er has 2800 lbs on the kingpin and my 3500 handles that fine without the Timbrens, but that extra 1300 lbs from the truck camper really squashed my rear suspension w/o the Timbrens.

Get the DR2500CA Timbren kit. They work great for hauling heavy loads with no adjustments needed. Installed without the optional spacers, the Timbrens only come into play when you are loaded.

I had them on the 08 I used to own for exactly the same reason. Wow! What a difference. The 2nd best part is that there is no maintenance. I got them for my current truck now too.

I have a co-worker who uses his 04 to haul an 11ft slide in and tow his fishing boat. He installed the Timbrens on his truck and loves them. He likes the way it handles better than he did his previous truck with air bags and a sway bar. Everyone has their own opinion on what they like though

I have nothing against airbags. I have never had them and I didn't want to deal with the hassle of having air to inflate them. That's why Timbrens were the right choice for me. In a perfect world I would have on-board air, airbags, and a real train-horn. My world is not perfect these days though.....

I have never had them, but Dodgezilla, the Firestone Ride rites are just awesome. I know you said its not a perfect world for you, but man they are the best things I have ever had. I have run them sice December, and its just awesome. Not too expensive of a kit to have them with onboard air, and they only lost a couple pounds of air when it was below freezing this past winter. I mounted my pump on the firewall so it stays dry. I would never own a truck without them again.

So when you get the chance to check them out.

I have a set of Timbrens that I no longer need. Used very little. PM me if you are interested.

I also have a set of PacBrake airbags. They were on the truck about 1 week. These are also available.

I 2nd the air bags. They are awesome. Might cost a tad more than the Timbrens but being able to adjust ride height on account of the weight of your load is the way to go.

I think they mount in the same place. Timbrens replace the rear factory bumpstops on my truck.

I just put 2400 miles on my 3500 with about 800lbs out back in the bed and ~500 of hitch tongue weight, sat on the overloads the whole trip.

Rode pretty good actually, so you may want to consider factory overload springs if you can find a set for cheap, mind you, you will need to weld or bolt on the snubbers too...

With an empty bed you are about 1.5" off the overloads, firm ride but not too bad IMO.

I just bought some Timbrens, but I haven't put them on yet. Just looking at it, it is obvious that the suspension will lose some travel because of the thickness of the rubber. I think it will lose about 1.5" inches of upward travel.

Has anyone had trouble with the frame/timbren "bottoming out" on the axle?

I hated the airbags on my previous truck. Even aired down I felt like it made the truck bouncy. I considered Timbrens on my new truck but had heard about the abrupt contact on pot-holes, speed bumps and off-road.

I went with Roadmaster Active Suspension. I love them. It didn't change the ride and it leveled out my load when pulling the trailer with a ATV in the bed. They also act like traction bars to eliminate wheel hop.

They are more then Timbrens but less then airbags.
