Did anyone else see that the ThunderBrake is now back on Youtube. I saw it the other day and they talk about bringing it to market but you have to view more information from a campaign page. Can anyone find their campaign page?

Glad to see this idea/company surfaced again. Really hoping they are able to follow thru this time.

I wonder what kinda damage itll do to the wallet...

Yea it is gonna hit the wallet a lil hard but I think it'll be well worth it as long as they can stick thru with it this time.
I probably should give em timke to work all the bugs out but after they disappeared last time its gonna be real hard not to pre-order one now while they are still here with it.

I think I would be a little concerned with the longevity. I mean, this brake has been around forever but not on the ISBs. When spending that much coin, it would be something I would not want to have to mess with again... what about a warranty, or customer service or replacement parts. I could see someone being stuck with a very expensive paperweight if they dont stick around this time and something happens to fail. They seem like pretty stand up people but they did disappear once. Im not saying they wont back a product after its purchased but it has happened before from other vendors once they close the doors, just something to think about...

Yes you do have a very solid point. I have tried working on my own version of one before but I have very limited access to the machines necessary to make the parts so I never got past the paper version. Im not saying im the smartest person or anything close but I figure I could keep it going if they wod happen to disappear once again. It'd be nice to get to see what all their parts consist of to get an idea of how durable it may be before its pre-ordered.

But thats the thing, not everyone is like that. Hell, some people dont even change their own oil on their truck let alone keeping a possible failing engine brake functioning. I know if I bought it, I would try to go over all the possibilities of it failing and having no support but some people wont or just dont care or think that since theyre spending that much money, they wont have an issue... it will fail eventually.. maybe not the day you install it, the month, the year, but something will fail and will there be support for it?

And before anyone says anything like "well if you arent mechanically inclined, you shouldn't mess with a product like this" you gotta think, not everyone likes being under the hood, or under the truck, the majority of people nowadays dont share the same interest in automotive as the "older" (no offense anyone) generation. This product would be a very useful tool for people that use their trucks for hauling. And there are alot of people out there that use their truck as a tool and let someone else handle the dirty work turning wrenches...

Point is, you can almost guarantee Joe Schmo at the dealership or a backyard shop etc. will be scratching his head if you pull a truck with one of these in the shop. A product like this needs support, maybe not for everyone on this forum but for the average joe doing his job using his tool to make money...

I see Black Cummins point.

Like the difference between exhaust brake which is really common and most all dealers and shops can handle those. But now the Thunderbrake might be a bit difficult being new on the market. Then how many people are just going to buy this product just for the cool noise and not for the function? How many people will get tickets for noise in cities?

Personally I think it cool sounding and all but is there any difference in braking performance between Jacobs exhaust brake to a Thunderbrake?

Another thing is with the exhaust brake i can enhance warm up times 8-10 minutes in cold climates. How about I can use my exhaust brake in cities and residential areas where the Thunderbrake you would either run a full muffler or not use it n the cities were posted.

So the only reason I see everyone jumping up and down is the cool factor of the noise. I've not seen any performance data proving this product being between than product B, C, or D.

I agree with what both of you guys are saying. You guys have very good points. Every product on the market needs support behind it. But also with the way the economy is anymore their is no guarantee that the support will always be their for any of them. I'm not out to cause arguments or debates rather but it is nice having different peoples opinions on it.

Any product will have advantages or disadvantages over other. That's where the buyer makes his decision on which product he will buy. For me I live in the mountains of West Virginia so I personally dont have to worry about noise ordinances because theirs a hill coming into just about every town around here. Im not out for the sound I'm for the function of the product.
Not knowing exactly how its working I can't say it will work just as well as an engine brake on the bigger trucks but its almost bound to be some improvement over an exhaust brake. All dependent upon how its operating in relation to the bigger ones.

As much as I like the idea. Ill hold off til I think of one. I got a 4" inline pacbrake prxb in mail as we type. That'll do for now. And at 1/4 the price. Hard to believe the thunder brake will stop me 4 times as fast.
