So, what are your thoughts on a solid rim, or close to it, as opposed to a spoke rim? I have to imagine it would impact brake cooling and life, no? What exactly would be the advantage, if any, of a solid rim?

Talking something like this:

Or even this:

Compared to something like this.

Just as a note, I am seriously considering the last one, but I also very much dig that first one, I am just concerned on a truck with Brakes the size of ours, having that all covered up must have an impact. Between that and the additional weight of even 35's, I would think you would be doing a brake job every-time your changing the oil on CTD. Like to hear everyone's thoughts.

I have no doubt there would be some impact. How much though is the key. The air flowing thru the rotor comes from the back side of it in between the dust shield. IMO the biggest issue your likely to see is increased tire pressures while driving as more heat is transferred to your wheels.

If anything the heat will warp the rotor if you brake hard and for extended periods such as a long down hill or aggressive driving. The solid rim will impact cooling of the brakes but how much I can’t really say for sure.
