not really sure if I need them or not? I dont race on the track or sled pull but I do tow 4-10k lbs and like to play in mud I figured it would help it hook up better and eliminate wheel hop?
opinions guys?

I thought about this too, but the only thing I am concerned with is with track bars you have no axle wrap..or very little anyways. All your tq or atleast most of it is being put through your tranny, u-joints, gears, and tires and isnt being absorbed by axle wrap. Any movement of the axle through acceleration will decrase initial shock to all of your moving internal parts of your driveline. Some food for thought maybe. thats the one downfall I see with them. Alot of positives though..

Absolutely, 100% incorrect.

If you want to see breakage, axle wrap will do it. ANY deflection in the driveline that isn't intended to be there by suspension design is BAD.

Look up shock loading and you'll understand.

As an example....

This first video is with the truck at around 670 HP and NO traction / ladder bars. Open it full screen and watch closely near the cab / bed when I come off at only about 10 psi. This shook the truck so hard, it separated the clamps on the exhaust.

Now, same truck / same track, only at 933 hp w/ ladder bars and drag radials with a 25 psi launch.

Shock loading is THE fastest way to break parts.

Here's the video of these runs....if you want to go right to this pass, just skip to 2:40 in the video.

I have never had wheel hop, but I've seen videos on axle wrap and that's enough for me to get them even though I don't go to the track too often. Since I'm trying to max out my truck on stock fuel/turbo set-up, I want to try them to see if they'll help out my 60' since I actually lost traction in 4x4 the other day at the track  I know I'll try emptying the tires a little more for the track, but the thought of axle wrap even when towing makes me cringe sometimes.

To the OP:

You gotz the skilz to fab 'em up, or you daydreamin. LOL!

Dom42, speak for yourself, mister! I happen to be a WISE SMARTA$$!

How you been, Dom?!!

Back to the thread, there are pros and cons to Traction Bars... Do you know what they are? How do you use your truck? Any off roading?

Hmm... lower tire pressure = amplify wheel hop via spring wrap due to softer sidewalls if you don't control or null the spring wrap...

How OLD are you guys??? (Not you, Dom)

LOL!

I put a set of traction bars on my truck about 2 months ago and I really like them. My truck has zero wheel hop when launching at the track. I also like towing with them the rear end doesn't seem so soft in the corners with a heavy load on. I got them from Duncs performance great price and great customer service.

Any time you use a set of ladder / traction bars with a leaf sprung rear, make sure you put a slider and a heim joint on it so it doesn't affect daily driving / off-roading.

In a pulling truck it's one thing, but on a street truck, you don't want it limiting articulation, all you want it to do is prevent the wrap and plant the tires.

Those GDP ladder bars have a heim joint correct?

Nvm, I figured it out.
