What’s latest opinions, leave the factory bypass or remove it? The thermal bypass valve on the trans lines, if anyone reads this and doesn’t know what the bypass is, it helps the trans heat up faster. But supposedly can clog or fail and cause too much heat?

I just put one on my truck. We get down to the 30s and 20s in winter with daytime temps of 40-45ish, my trans has been running around 100-110, I’m sure it’s ok but it definitely is low and has me wondering if I should of done it lol. It was an easy job, lost maybe half a quart.

I was always told low trans temp is better but now I am not so sure. Over heating is bad but if it’s cold will it wear clutches etc faster?
If it is too cold it locks out 6th thats the reason i wont do it here at -40 i would never get it out of 5th it seems anything colder than +12°C (53ish°F) it wont hit 6th and with the thermostat in there i only hit about 75°C in the cold which is right around where the thermostat opens so I'm worried it would never get to temp if bypassed

Fwiw, revmax told me after a few minutes of driving, 80*f minimum is fine. They stated low temps do not kill clutches. Have 34k miles since I installed one and haven’t seen any negative effects yet. We have cold winters but not extreme. Teens to zero degrees is common throughout the winter.

It's fine helz...this was on a 40° day....even in 20° it'll get to around 110 within 20 minutes of driving and slowly climb to the 122ish range.....unloaded....

It probably wouldn’t get there, but maybe. I would never do it in that cold of a climate. My climate is probably too cold in the winter for it as well. It takes me a good hour of driving to get it up between 110-120 right now.
