SO, like many if not all of you, I hate my factory light output. I also did not want to spend 1000 dollars for someone to retrofit my housings. So, I did what any sane person would do, I ordered a kit to do it myself. It was 330 for everything shipped. Since I already own the housings, and paint is cheap, I will be into it for maybe 350. My kit included the Morimoto projector kit, with the Mini Gattling Gun shrouds and a set of white LED halos.

Edit: the kit also included the HID kit as well. There are many options for shrouds and halos and HIDS to fit your taste or needs.

I ordered it about 2 hours ago, and just recieved my tracking number. Pretty quick. Once I recieve them, I am going to do a step by step on them. I think this is something just about anyone can do. These kits are made very well, and go in very easily. I am going to paint my reflectors, and add LEDs to my turn signals as well. My truck is black, so paint will be a cinch. I hope it helps more of you guys that are not willing to throw out 1000 for a set of lights, dont want cheap chinese crap, and know that HID's in these stock housings are a bad idea.

I get home from my rotation in the oil field on friday. I plan on getting to it either saturday or sunday.

Edit: This is the kit I bought http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?products_id=227

Yeah, I tried that first too. Getting the housings open and back together turned out to be a real PITA. I tried the method of baking in the oven and then used a heat gun. It really didn't work out very well and I'm usually pretty good with mechanical stuff. So I ended up getting Jeremy to build me a set and they are perfect.

I hope you have better luck! You might want to try a set of aftermarket housings rather than the stockers. I think they aren't put together so tightly.

Whatever you do you'll love the HIDs once you're done!

I've never had issues getting my headlights apart. Lower your temp and cook for longer period of time. Really helps. I've done this with many lights to paint the inside. I will most definitely post the results. Pics will be abundant.

Ok, well, I got my package. The package shipped within two hours of ordering fyi. I ordered the 20th and recieved them the 23rd. Would have been yesterday had it not been for the snow/ice storm we had. First off, the packaging is very good and well put together. Second, the quality looks great so far as I can tell. Third, it included some quick tips that are very well written and grammatical. We know this is important if you've ever ordered Ebay lights or anything direct from China. The Retrofit Source is in Atlanta Georgia. So there is local support. The package included a hand checked bill of contents, which I really liked.

I will include the contents, followed by photos of what's inside.

2x Morimoto 3 Five 35W Ballasts
2x Morimoto 3 Five 4300K bulbs
2x Morimoto XB LED halos
2x Morimoto LHD (left hand drive) Projectors
1x Re - sealing glue (for the headlight housing lense)
2x Mini Gattling Gun Shrouds

Looks nice. Can't wait to see after pics.
Might be till the weekend is out before they are done and in. Have a lot going on. But I am going to see how far I can get tonight when. The kid is in bed. I'll probably clean up the housings and start baking them shortly. I have a set of duals and quads. I've decided to use the duals. After this conversion, the brights portion of a set of quads will be pretty much worthless. And the quads sell for more. If this all goes well, I may order another set up and play with the quads too. Maybe sell em and make my money back lol.

All apologies fellas. I have been making progress. I am pretty close to completion. I just had a new plow installed on my truck, which took 2 days. Then the day after, my lift pump and an injector went out. So it is in the shop waiting on parts. Thankfully, it's all under warranty.

Also, looks like I'm going be the new proud owner of a divorce (we have a club for that on here??) So things are sort of hectic as one could imagine. I promise that I will update this properly when I can, with pics.

The hardest part so far, was getting the old sealant off the lense, not out of the housing fyi. I baked at 250 for 20 mins, then used a heat gun to assist and two flat head screw drivers. That went easy enough.

I mounted my halos on the outside of my shrouds. I shaved down the ridge on the face of the shroud with a utility knife and used JBWeld plastic stick (or whatever it's called) in thin lines around it. Once I placed the halos, I quickly carved the epoxy with the knife. Turned out great. I have pics, and I will post.

Also, tried factory match pearl black. Didn't work out for me. I used the cheap stuff off the shelf. NAPA would have been better (have them mix a couple aerosol cans). So I decided to plastidip the reflectors and bezels. I think it's going to look real trick the way I did it.

Feel free to ask questions. I'll reply as I can.
