Quest for low 10's with a crewcab long bed daily driver on street tires. This build starts out with the following, and morphed into a Monster....

2003 Quad Cab Single Rear Wheel 2500 HD with 35's on 20's, 4" Fabtech lift, and an AEM intake. Its got 08.5 steering linkage, a BD steering box brace, and Bilstien 5100's. Previous owner upgraded the exhaust to 4" with some sort of muffler.

I'm about ready to stop abusing (racing) the the tow rig, so I'm going to sell my old W250 and put that money toward building the wife's truck so I can race her truck instead. (Don't tell her, these are just maintenance items and preventative upgrades ;))

Its already got a locally built auto with a bunch ATS stuff so that's covered until I break it. I put in "new" II Bosch remanufactured injectors with stock tips a few months ago because the truck wouldn't start when cold. It starts now, but I suspect the CP3 is about done too. More on that later.

This is my plan at this point

110 lb Valve springs $500

ARP 425's $450

Super B Special $1200

Lift Pump $400

Injector nozzles $1000

Smarty $600

Edge CTS $370

Dual Injection Pump $2300

Total $6820

I like keeping things compatible between rigs if possible, and as I already have an '03 Dually with many of the same/similar pieces, I am pretty firm on the Super B for now, R850 compounds (64.5/74.6) are the goal once funds allow. Though I could be talked out of this plan, so please try.

My ultimate goal is low 12's, but for now I will be happy with 600 ish hp and mid 13's?

This truck will never tow more than a few thousand lbs. (LOL, please don't quote me on that!) I'll be fabricating all my own piping, so a compound "kit" isn't necessary. Since its an auto, I figure I can get away without upgrading the valve springs for now.

Edit: Added head studs to the list

600 to the tire will put u mid 12's if u take off the 35's and go to something around a 32-33...and if your going to be in there putting studs and nozzles in then u might as well put valve springs in since half the job is done at that point.

The truck already needs new tires, I was hoping to stay in the 34-35" range so it doesn't look stupid, but maybe I will have to get a set of race tires and a new set of 35's.

As far as nozzles go, I'd like to be one and done, what do you guys think about getting some 75-100% nozzles at this first stage of the build, having Coffman Customs tune it, then once I get the big primary installed, having them re-tune it? Will that be enough nozzle for my future plans, yet not too large for the immediate plan?

Just an idea... I did [email protected] with just
Raptor 100, II silver bullet, DTT, 120hp nozzles, Todd's cp3, modded rail, EFI.

Later I switched a few things around and wow... Hello 11's fo sure.

I think your plan is good.

Hitting low 12's is able to be done on a single pump. Shane's stroker pumps can fuel 800hp+. That would save you about $400.

I should mention that I did install a GDP fuel filter kit, so I've got good filtration already.

I'll re-consider the dual pupms. I've got one of Shanes 10mm pumps on my dually, but I like the idea of dual stock pumps, if funds allow, I'd love to get one of his dual pump kits. I know for sure that I won't be getting another PPE Dual Fueler kit! We'll see how things shape up, it sure is nice having only one pump when it comes time to work on the engine!

You should be low 12's with the following

Shane's 10.6mm stroked pump
120-150hp nozzles
S467
Good tuning.
And some nice track tires. (420's).

Nitto 420S 275/55R20 31.97 diameter 11.02 width

That's going to look pretty goofy with a 4" lift isn't it?

Anyone have pictures of a similar height truck with 32's?

I could look for a set of stock wheels, and only run them for racing, but [email protected], sure would be nice to look cool while going fast. :)

That's one sick truck bud. I'm not ready to lower mine, just bought some 34" studded winter tires, and installed Bilstien shocks for the 4" lift.

Some 295/60R20 Nitto Terra Grapplers would like nice, how do you guys like these tires for racing? Nitto and Toyo are available at my local tire dealer, and they offer road hazard warranty, kinda nice in Alaska.

I don't know how those will do. But my BFG AT's did pretty good for the hp I was at while I was up there. Only time the broke loose was when I did a 25psi launch. @15-18 they did good.

I'm thinking about going with a Screaming Eagle 63-68-14 for now, but I want to run 200hp nozzles so I don't have to buy again once I put an S475 or S480 under it. I'll be running UDC tuning from Coffman Customs if I haven't worn out my welcome with tuning the Dually.

Going to be too hot even with stock ish pressure and duration?

I'm concerned that the 64.5-65-.8 Super B Special, or the Screaming Eagle 66-74-14 will be too laggy and smokey for a street rig. I know lots of guys run these bigger turbos on the street with no complaint, but I'm used to running a 58 over 71 with 200's and a manual transmission.

I have no idea what the stall speed is in this trucks torque converter.

The super B special is a 64.5/71 not 64.5/65.

You should look into the 63/68/.91 T4 non gated. Seems to be a good single and works well in compounds even non gated. Lots of guys are running it and Anarchy builds a bunch of compounds using it.

I'm actually putting an 11 blade billet 63/68/.91 over billet 478/92/1.10 T6 compound setup on my truck. I've got a 60/68/.91 to swap out if the 63 doesn't spool as quick.
