Subbed for how it feels and lasts. What were the problems you were having with OEM boxes? How much power are you pushing through it? Or how big are the tires?

I wondered the same thing about the shield. Why not get a nv5600 ? I am waiting for my auto to go before I swap to a nv 5600.

Is not how much power or how big wheels.

I run 37'' big rigs but the diff is 4.88
Heavy loads. Destroy the original tranny. First case and then inside.

2 high gear trannies. And tired of loosing work I called mike and a real good one.

You can not rebuild a g56 ask it to hold.

I wonder what role that shield around the tranny will play with operating temps, also do you know what has been done to the internals? how much stronger is it?
The shield prevent the case to twist and start breaking internal. Due to the power that YOUR clutch transfer to the tranny. Jajaja

Check around. Nv is good but g56 shift better. The Nv has a better case but the g56 has bigger internals. The case is just only 50% of what lazar smith do to it. I guess Ryan krazzum did say how better one was over the other. Also find parts for nv is not easy sometimes.

Thats easy. Finding quality parts that aren't a low grade China repo is the hard part. NV5600 parts were discontinued a few years ago when the company was sold. Most of the original quality pieces are long gone.

Not to bash the G56 guys but there's a guy in middle TN who was running 64/475 in his mega cab that kept exploding G56's... went thru 4 trannies and finally swapped out to the NV5600 and has not had 1 problem.. Just my.02 on it

i went through two trannies, then number three was helped by mike @lazarsmith. got the 3rd g56 rebuilt, run gorilla juice, and a torqueshield, with a valair dual disk organic. been good so far, but the temps get to it. ive had a thread on here about it. tranny runs about 250* even with a dead empty truck.
i have close to the same setup on my 06, but a ceramic dual disk, and no torqueshield, and run around 160, 210 is as high as ive seen towing.

these g56's get killed from two major things: heat and twisting. the heat kills these things, thats whats killed the first g56, second was from twisting. the torqueshield eliminates the twist, but im really worries about the heat. so far its killed two of the orange 'seals' on the shifter, but another one in, it last two days before it too melted...

so i drove for one day... 1 2 and r is a liitle bit tricky but the rest of the gear shift great... no noise or missing.... a little bit of leak from the top as normal for over fill and some gear noise.... the CC downpipe hit on the shield a little bit when turn off... I guess will be there for a while until i can get another turbo and change the downpipe....maybe a gt4094:drool2::drool2:

Subed. Looking for g56r for my swap. And one day will get the gorilla treatment! I'll see how long it lasts with just the torque shield! Would love to see a video of you jamming the gears with it skirsman!
