Why on Earth do you want to do something silly like that? And good luck, I guarantee the tables aren't available to even come close to 6300.

The obvious answer is to raise horsepower but more to the point, what prevents us from building the table required? Is there an inherent limitation with diesel fuel that prevents it from burning at that speed?

The table would be in the ECM. There is an extremely small performance market for the 2.8 at this point. EFILive DOES support the CM2220 ECM that the R2.8 uses, via their Cummins HD platform, but I can guarantee no one is turning 6300rpm

You don't need to turn it that fast to make horsepower.

I agree, but IMHO this will change. Looking at the R2.8 as a retrofit kit, the torque is too high for too many existing auto drivetrains. Better to sacrifice some torque down low and bend the power curve up. The cutoff is around 450ft/lb for most of the market but the lower you keep the torque, the more cars are suitable for this retrofit. Remember, we're pulling <2 tons most of the time in a passenger vehicle. The appeal here is the use of a diesel engine. If someone had the wherewithal to manufacture diesel heads for existing gas short blocks, that could also be a route to what I feel is an untapped market. An ideal engine would make 280ft/lbs from 2500-5500 and keep the HP constant to redline from there. With modern methods of controlling fuel intake and boost, this seems plausible if not yet affordable.
