My truck is stoping all on its own when I get out of boost. Its also failing the tea kettle test. The oil filler cap rattles and pops right off.

I am pulling 26mm of vaccume, the AC and heat work fine. No leaks where the pump connects to the power steering pump. Turbo is tight with minimal oil on intake side. Pyro reads fine always driven between 650 and 875 on the pyro. 77Kk miles on the OD. Im not the origional owner though.

I think I am going to have to replace the motor. That much pressure is sure to have messed up everything of value in the engine including the block.

Any ideas of additional tests or places to start looking for a replacement?

Thanks as always.

I agree with Mike aka moparman. Do a compression test first and see what shows up.
It could be something as simple as a damaged piston or even very worn or damaged valve guides can and will allow combustion gasses into the engine though I've only seen this once and a mechanic buddy has only seen it once either.

Haha I had to think about that for a minute or 2 myself but what it is----
Is loosen the oil cap off and just let it rest on the rocker cover oil fill hole,
excessive blowby will cause it to bounce around or blow off, a bit like a boiling kettle with a loose lid. At least I think thats it anyway.

It could even be a cracked vacuum line yet. Might be pulling vacuum down but have a fine crack that is blowing excessive air in the crankcase.

77k miles on the OD
It not even broke in yet... :hehe::rof

It super rare to see a engine blown up well before 500K miles. Most of these trucks make 500,000 to 1,000,000 miles.

Thanks, Compression test will be wednesday. Needed adapters ordered from matco or snap on one of the two I forget. Good cyclinder pressure should be above 350 correct?
