Mike, I don't think you did anything wrong on the install. I think the friction weld on the turbine let go... crappy aftermarket shaft

he's fully capable of swapping a turbo... he's already done it once... I sold him a rebuilt turbo that let go almost instantly, and I think he's affraid that he may have done something wrong, and I know that he didn't

I've always used the German torque spec... "guedenteit"

really, any good turbo shop will leave assembly lube oil on the shaft/bearings... it's always a good idea to pre-lube the turbo, but if you've ever watched a mechanical oil pressure gauge connected to one of these turbos, there's really no need to pre-lube a turbo if your engine is in good shape

Damn never need to prelube ... ouch !!!! always pre lube a new turbo fill it and spin it by hand man , when you get in to VGTs and your customers are paying an arm and a leg for a turbo you better damn well pre lube that thing !!

I always pre-lube a new turbo, my point is it's unlikely to cause any damage if you don't

I fill it and spin it by hand and it'll suck the oil down into the center... do that a few times, and reconnect the feed line
