I have access to a lot of wrecked trucks so finding one should'nt be a problem but I was just wondering how difficult it would be.

Ok Good info guys thanks I kinda figured that the transfer case would be the same just have to change the tail shaft on the transmission, and a computer reflash with 6sp software.

So did you do a swap of trannies or just get a replacement 6sp?

If the G56 is basically the same as the NV5600. You will need.

The basics that you allready know, Trans, Clutch, Flywheel, etc.

Hydro. for the clutch.

The adapter plate on the back of the engine. (Different length from starter to flywheel)

Transfer case, or input for T-case. (6speed has larger output shaft)

Front and Rear drive shafts. (6speed trans is longer)

Clutch pedal and Steering column.

Wiring harness, (Need neutral safety switch)

The PCM was not needed on the 03 with the manual, not sure if 04.5 is the same.

The auto ECM worked with the manual, just no low speed governor.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, besides it's a PITA.

HAHA so looks like truck might be getting a torque converter and Valve body at least for a while till I gather parts and the nerve to attempt it. Thanks Everyone for you help.

I believe he is deployed again. I haven't talked with him in a few weeks though.
That being deployed stuff is for the birds!

ok so I decided to attempt this again but think I will be going with either the NV4500 or the NV5600 (trying to stay away from the aluminum case on the G56) are the 4500 and the 5600 the same length?
