There was a supercharged D max at TS. Didnt get to see under the hood but you could hear it. I heard it makes 5 psi at idle.
No the Duramax makes 0 psi at idle. Picked up 2 MPG and lowered EGTs 300 deg.
Although it would be cool, CTD's realy are not as easy to supercharge compared to PSD's and D-Max's. I got to get a short look at a 6.0 at TS that was supercharged, it was pretty cool and ran DANG good!

But all in all, its a lot easier to drop a super charger in the vally of a V8 than trying to hang one off the side of an I-6
Actually the Dmax kit was the hardest to date to build. The Cummins kit seems to be coming along real nice.
thats not really a supercharger that looks like a procharger
Procharger is a manufacture of the best superchargers out there.

More info to come. Here is some pics of recent setups.

When you get some miles on, let us know how the driveability is of the procharger especially on the Cummins. I could really go for a procharger feeding my turbo.

An F1 procharger would out flow just about any turbo you would run on your truck in airflow. A F1 procharger is their full race supercharger and the thing is MASSIVE. I doubt that airflow would be an issue feeing a turbo.
Seems to me that there would be pros and cons to this type of setup just as anything in life. A supercharger uses crank horsepower to create power. This causes additional stress on the crank. Basicly it costs power to make power. to me personally i see it as overkill on anything but a race vehicle.
And just as an example John Forces race team said it costs almost 800 hp just to drive the supercharger on their top fuel car. Granted thats a large jump from any street driven vehicle but i think it illistrates the point.

Keep the pics and results coming though. Very interesting thread.

67 Ford F100 with Isuzu 4BD1T

from page 20, and on it gets really detailed. even had a pulley made to spin the living daylights out of the charger. and better yet, this is all on a 4 cyl isuzu similar to that of a 4bt cummins. thread hasnt been updated in a long time tho. something to ponder....

Detroit ran superchagers on their 2 stroke diesels because they couldn't scavange enough air to start or keep them running at idle. The turbo was there to help the engine in the higher rpm's to feed them enough air. 2 strokes are easy to set valves on. one spin of the crank and you get all the exhaust valves set.

Diesel Power editor Jason Sands is trying to do a supercharger and twin turbo set-up on his '95 12-valve with the help of Browns Diesel. I asked Eric (I think it was Eric) about it and he said there have been some problems. Thats one of the reasons the '95 in DPM is called "Project Triple Threat". We'll see how it goes.

I think Eric also experimented with supercharging and turbocharging a common-rail 5.9L Cummins. Maybe thats the one you guys were talking about.

Empire diesel has built a couple dmax kits, a couple 6.0 kits, a 7.3 kit and a commonrail kit all with prochargers. If your interested in more pm yoshi470 as he works for them

From what I am seeing of the recent builds, they are using the superchargers as the primary because they cant take the stress of being force-fed. It also means the kits are VERY expensive as the large SCs are not cheap, putting the kits out of reach for most.

I am more of a "grass-roots" type and am looking into more main-stream common mass produced SCs that would reduce cost substantially.

Yes they are using them as the primary and they are crazy expensive. It would be fun to tool around with putting one on...if only i had one laying around :hehe:

I got a 671 blower but no matter how much I scratch my head I couldn't make it fit lol.a procharger sbout the only option . they're good for about 20 pounds I think. To get 10 pounds at a low Rpm you would have to run at least a 10 inch pulley on the crank. The rpm would be crazy on the procharger. a good set of twins would be money better spent imo.
