So I recently got an 06 ram 2500 lonestar edition it's got 52K miles on it, runs great except when I got onto the freeway my sunroof rattled a bit then I heard a loud sorta tear sound. I opened up the cloth roof looked up and the glass just wasn't there. It flew off, Im pretty dissapointed in the quality of these trucks. However I do love my cummins, what should I do? Go to dealer or insurance?

I suspect work was done to the sunroof. There is 4 screws that hold it to the track. Id say its whoever last serviced the roofs responsibility.

Something had to have happened, this is not indicative of the quality of the truck. Something had to happen for it to fly off, because that just isn't something that happens.

Is it a factory sunroof or aftermarket?

I was getting bad windnoise in my sunroof do I tore into it to adjust it. It would lift up enough on the highway you could see light under it. Pulled the black plastic pieces off the side to get to adjustment screws and found that the glass was seperated from the metal frame it is glued to on to on both sides! I lifted the glass up and epoxied it back to the frame for the time being till I find a replacement and its been holding well knock on wood. The only thing holding it in was the frame front and rear but thats seperate somewhat from the frame on the sides where the glass is mounted to the track. Mine is a factory sunroof

on an 8 y/o truck that you didnt buy from them?
He said that he recently bought the truck, and I assumed that he meant the dealer where he bought it used. Depending on the state, there may be an implied warranty if purchased used from a dealer. Doesn't hurt to make a stink, especially if it happened less than 90 days since you picked it up.....

Hey guys here's the update in case someone has to go through with it. A company called Wabasto (made sunroofs for Dodge trucks) had a recall on these sunroofs few years back. When I called they asked for the serial number located on your sunroof and schedule and over night delivery of your new glass/sunroof to a shop of their choice near you. Turns out they used a crappy epoxy and peoples sunroofs were just popping right off.

1888-749-8632 that's the number to reach them.

That's bizarre! Never heard of such a thing. I have to agree with the overall quality of the Dodge truck though. Not super impressed with the truck itself, but the engine is awesome and I do like the body style and interior the best out of all of them.
