for the 200 watts my sub can take it really hits hard with the vented box i have. you can feel it when it hits. plus you can hear it clearly for about 4 blocks word for word bass note to bass note. you can hear it farther away but it starts to get hard to know for sure what song is being played.moparfan1234, I have the same set up as you. A single 12(JL here) between the seats really hits hard and sounds great.
partly right. sounds like you are thinking ported box they are kinda boomy. a vented box can be tuned to what ever music you like. i have a set of subs here in a sealed box and a 2nd set in a vented box i custom made. all the subs are 15" M3's and the way i have the vented box tuned it is alot tighter then the ones in the sealed box.If you are going to put them under the seat it will be pointless to make a vented enclosure because u simply will not have enough volume for the subwoofer to perform properly. Another thing about vented vs. sealed is the safety factor. These are trucks and odds are they are going to be gettin off roaded and bumped around. Sealed enclosures protect subs from these impacts and bumps unlike vented. And it also depends on the type of music u listen to. If you prefer rock or country a sealed box provides tighter, more responsive bass while vented boxes are usually more "boomier" and suited to rap type music.
I have the same set up as you, the CVX's hit hard, just imagine if we could have more air space.i have 2 kicker CVX 10s under my back seat in a stardard 100 dollar box may have been cheaper but i think i paid that for it. with a 750.1 kicker amp and been running that set up for 2 years and not nicely. havnt had a problem yet.........
