The specs of the truck are, 2012 6.7 cummins with the 6 speed stick and it has 50,000 miles. The weird noise is, sometime driving down the road it makes almost like a dieseling rattle noise, that is completely from what I noticed random, and it only lasts for maybe two or three seconds then goes away. I cannot make it do it, and I just can't put my finger on it, any ideas? I almost wonder if the vgt acts up? This is my third 6.7 and I don't recall hearing it in any of the other ones. It's so random that it's hard to be at attention to really hone in. No gauges drop, no lights, nothing. The truck is factory also, no work done to this one yet.

Do you still have the stock DMF and stock clutch in the truck? The DMF can make a sound like what you are talking about under the right conditions.

Yea unfortunately I still have the factory junk in this one, I never really thought about that as a possibility. I'll have to try to listen to it the next time it does it. It's just so darn hard because it literally may do it once or twice every few hundred miles.

If it is that far and few between hearing the sound. Then it's something to keep an eye on but not worry on to much at this point

Yea I just have a problem with over thinking things lol. I'll have this one deleted and tuned with some other stuff, and twin disc it too within a couple of months, the warranties aren't worth anything anyways..I've learned that over the years.

Shot in the dark here, but I'll share my .02's

My truck has a hulled DPF, and when me and a buddy put a filter back MRBP exhaust on it, somehow, it knocked this loop-like device that holds the lines down that run along the DPF cans. I imagine these are fuel lines that run the length of the DPF to deliver fuel for regens. Anyway, one of the screws with a insulated rubber hoop in it broke off and it allowed the metal line to bang and clang against the DPF can making ridiculously janky noises that were intermittent and difficult to pinpoint when they weren't occurring frequently enough, or when I was looking for a source.

Is the noise coming from the engine bay? Or is it further down?
