How do I tell if my truck has a stock turbo? Is there a model name on the stock turbo? My truck had some mods on it when I bought it and was curious about the turbo. I'm sure it's prob stock, but wanted to check

Mine says Holset, or something like that. Is that what Dodge used, or is it aftermarket?

Ditto

I bought my '05 under the same circumstances, 5" turbo back exhaust, signs of and Edge w/A having been installed and removed, aftermarket intake, etc. My turbo is the same as your's.....I'm wondering the same thing.

I was also wondering if my trans and/or my torque converter, valve body, etc. are upgraded.

As it is, I installed an Edge w/A but am afraid to take it beyond the 3rd setting.

well the only way to tell is to ask the person or the dealership who you bought the truck from and ask what they took off. as far as the turbo goes aftermarket turbos have revised housings or compressor wheels, the majority of the parts for these turbos come from companies like Schwitzer(part of BrogWarner), Garrett, or Holset (parts of Cummins). thats where i would start go back to the place where you got the truck from and find out that way.

In my case, the truck was bought from a dealer who purchased it at an auction. I did a VIN check and still couldn't locate the original owner.

is there a way that you could contact the dealer and find out what auction it came from. maybe they could track the owner down. i know most autions keep records of their transactions. worth a shot in the dark

I got mine from a used lot that is part of a larger Dodge dealer here in town. There is no telling where it came from. Could have been a local trade in, or an auction truck. If Holset is part of Cummins then I'm sure mine is stock. Just thought maybe since it had a name stamped in it that it may be an aftermarket part.
