Need some expert advice. I know I should just get an aftermarket pump, but...
I replaced my stock lift pump in May 2016 at about 320,000 miles. Haven't driven 20,000 miles since then. I determined my lift pump is not working. I checked all the normal things, then (backwards, I know) determined the power at the pump plug is correct- 12v+ for about a second with key on, 20+ seconds if you bump the starter. Picked up a new lift pump from Dodge after an hour and a half drive ($332), brought it home, and it does not work when plugged in. Applied 12v to the power pin and grounded the other outboard pin, nothing.
Then, since I need to fix it before an upcoming 4 day drive, drove 4 hours round trip to buy the next closest Dodge pump (all yesterday), brought it home, and it doesn't work. Cannot power it up with 12v and ground applied either. They both do exactly as the pump I pulled, nothing. The plug is clean, no corrosion. Does the pump need another input to run?
What am I missing, or have both pumps been inop new from the dealer?
