A dusted engine. I’d see if I could put a stock ram air box back on. I’m tuned and still run the stock air box, I think there good for 500/550 hp. And the best filtration you can get.

My buddy purchased an old 2002 wrx with a K&N that was all but what I would call melted, the rubber or plastic frame was all but gone as in heat damage or something? Now that I think about it I guess lots of sand would do it? He tossed that filter but K&N suggest the million mile warranty and I always wondered what could have caused that damage. Sadly my buddy got less than 10,000 miles and his engine failed. not sure of the exact reason...

I’d be concerned with how long it was running like that and how much unfiltered air made it in the engine. Especially if you’re operating in dusty conditions. The stock filter setup is actually really good, I’d see if you could track one down either on eBay or from a scrap yard.
