Ok, so I have a 2001 - 1 ton- I have a little wander and not so much of the death wobble but a little shimmy- I presume its the infamous tracbar- Which is the best system- the 2003 adapter fix-the thuren tracbar or the complete thuren steering system that replaces the tie rods with heim joints- here is the link-http://thurenfabrication.com/crossover.html

Get Don's track bar (its beefy!) and his cross-over steering and all your steering issues will go away.

Don Thuren is selling these for a budget price, about $225. All factory parts. Stock on left, '08 upgrade on right.

It's a T-style setup instead of the Y and has beefier parts. Makes a great upgrade for the price.

Will this help the play in the steering? Do they make one for an 01 too..and Where do you find it at? I've done about every upgrade to my steering that I can think of so far(new trac bar, new steering gear,a borgeson steering shaft, and checked all my joints and bearings) and still have play that I can't get rid of...it's becoming a safety issue for me...really want to get it tight...am I gonna have to just custom make a new steering system for it you think?

I was looking at the extreme steering kits on his site and was wondering how well will it ride for normal driving- their is'nt much give- which is good for tightness but as far as hitting a dip in the road will the axle kick over because it cant just go up?

Pauly are the pics of the x over for 225 on his site?? only steering kit i see there is almost $500?? Have a lot of play in my steering wheel since i put on 35's and have a bad vibration in wheel about 45mph and up. Ordered a Carli track bar, and lookin to do Thuren xover, and steering stablizer, you think this would fix the problems??

Honestly, I don't know much about the 2nd gen setup. It's a bit different than the 3rd gens. Give Don a call, he can answer those questions for you.

No, it's not the same as the one on the website. This one is more for a daily driven, mild off road truck. It's actually the setup off the '08 trucks.

With his more extreme kit, the absence of play is a good thing. The steering will feel tighter and more responsive with less wandering. It won't rip the wheel from your hand over bumps any more than the stock setup will. With a good steering stabilizer and track bar your steering will be vastly improved.

If you have a mostly on road rig supplement that track bar with this kit. The $500 kit will do the job but its overkill for most. This kit should take care of your steering issues, but the vibration could be tire related or something else. Give Don a call, he'll steer you in the right direction.

In 98 they had a heavy duty steering option which was an inverted T setup instead of the crapy inverted Y. You can go to NAPA or what not and get it, all factory parts so it will bolt right up, it is supposed to help out a lot.:thumbsup
