i have an 02 and ther is a squeak behind the dash and i dont know where its comin from. it sounds like a rubber bushing that is dry or something. maybe its in the engine compartment.. idk. its when i go over bumps it sound like something is shaking the bushing or something. is this common? what is is and is there a fix?

All I can say is tighten everything up that you can get you hands on.

Or...

Pull the dash out and double check all the mounting. These are about you only 2 options you got...

My 01 does the same thing. Always has I have tried to tighten things but have not found it yet. Mine sounds more like it is on the outside of the cab but because I have not found it yet I do no know

Try putting some light pressure on the gear shifter when you go over the bumps (assuming you have an auto). If it stops, I may be the shift linkage. I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a plastic bushing on the linkage under the truck. I rubbed a little grease on there and haven't had a problem since. Good Luck

if you have any cracks on your dash it they will squeek against eachother and the sound can appear to be coming from anywhere..but the shift linkage was the other squeek i had...very easy fix if thats what it is

hmm okay thanks. ive been listening closer and it almost sounds like the motor mounts are making the noise... maybe it's the linkage, ill check that out
